Whisleblower Suit

Livonia:

School officials hit with lawsuitLivonia Public Schools Superintendent Randy Liepa and Finance Director Lisa Levesque were served with a "whistleblower" lawsuit from the district's former controller last week. Margaret Flower, who served as controller for 21 years, has been on a medical leave of absence since November 2006, when she was suspended for three weeks on insubordination claims. Her suit claims she was suspended for speaking out about improper accounting practices. A spokeswoman for the district denied the claims and said Flower continues to receive medical benefits and can apply for other vacancies when she returns from her leave. Her job has been absorbed by others.

A bit too much information from the "spokeswoman" (Donna?). I do believe her comment violates privacy rules.

It seems to me that Dr. Liepa should be considered insubordinate since you and the rest of the Board are his boss(es). HOW is it he can DENY a copy of the Whitleblower Lawsuit to one of his bosses without being suspended or fired? I know I would never keep my job if I refused to give my boss a copy of something he asked for. My boss certainly should not have to file a FOIA request to obtain a file that I have! Is Liepa, or is he not, being insubordinate? It is clear that he is. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, and vice-versa. He should be suspended and/or fired. Preferably fired!

linda scheel ( a master at not responding to anyone with a question from the audience and master in the art of no give and take)took it upon herself to respond to a citizen from the audience when he brought up the fact that why does it indeed take a FOIA to get a copy of the lawsuit to a trustee---her response was that no one else on the broad complained about having their own copy, only Mr. King----what she failed to understand was that in spite of the other board trustee not complaining, what she implamented was WRONG on so many different levels and that the excuse that no one else on the board minded not having a copy is completely beside the fact of committing an unethical act, of course then you would have to explain ethics to her.
