Letter from a concerned teacher.

Whether you prefer MAC or PC, you can't help coming to the conclusion that someone did not do their homework before making this decision.

The bias in this letter is over the top. Spotlight? Come on!

Macs are more stable but this is largely because of 3 factors:
1) Unlike Microsoft, they control all of the hardware in a machine and limit peripherals, the trade-off is fewer hardware and peripheral options.
2) Microsoft has been more committed to backwards software compatibility than Apple. This has allowed Apple to make more radical upgrades in their OS, but it does raise the TOC for Apple owners because they have to replace old software more often.
3) Their smaller market share makes them less of a target for virus writers.

The prepackaged software argument is moot. I'd imagine that any class focused on using computers for video and music would use more powerful applications that are available for Macs and PCs.
