Jay is back

When Jay Young retired from LPS I asked Randy to consider not replacing him in order to save money. Ford and many other corporations have been reducing the size of their work force through attrition. When a person leaves they are not replaced and their workload is distributed among the remaining employees. This has been going on for years in other districts and at times even at LPS. When Jay left however not only were his hard to define responsibilities spread out but also his salary thus defeating the purpose of not replacing him. I was recently surprised to see that Jay has come back to work for the district as a consultant working on the Livonia Foundation that has a grand total of thirty thousand dollars in it. Where will the funds come from to pay him and what is the amount? This scenario of retiring and then coming back as a consultant is not new. John Rennels , Jack Kirksey, and a long list of other administrators have worn a path to the public coffers of LPS. What disturbs me is that the BOE has no control over who ,what for, or how much money is spent under the guise of consulting. As an oversight body that is held responsible for the fiscal health of this district we must have a say in how the money is spent.

Unbelievable! Why would the district be paying consultant fees for the LPS Foundation? I thought that was an 'outside, volunteer, fund-raising' group. I don't get it. This district will completely reconfigure our system under the guise of saving money, but then waste it at every turn. It is sad what is happening to LPS--Thank goodness we no longer attend.

You have to enact and pass a required policy that every expenditure for any reason must be brought before the board for approval. This must include all documentation for the reason for bid or acquisition, raises, step or longevity increases, cabinet hires, fies, or reorganizations, the cost of any services or consultants, the bids, the accounts it will come out of, the total cost, the duration...all of it.

It is the only way to ensure that as board members you are aware of what is being expensed under your fiscal responsibility. Otherwise you are being duped and misled, and then you as board members will ultimately be held responsible for lawsuits, litigation, defaults, etc...

Stop paying so much attention to paying kudos to persons just for doing their jobs, hell, they are getting paid to do their jobs, just let them do it, and while your at it, find ways to make sure they do it more efficiently and more cost effectively! You guys spend waaaaaayyyy to much time with pats on the back and fluffy presentations. GET BACK TO WORK ON WHAT IS THE REAL BUSINESS OF OVERSEEING THE DISTRICT WE ELECTED YOU TO DO!!!!

At that point you can also be tried and convicted of Misfeasance and Malfeasance in Office and be ordered by a court of law to have to pay reparations and legal fees to the entire district and some pro-bono lawyer who will just rape the district and yourselves for huge amounts of money... can any of us, and especially the children who depend on the education guaranteed to them by LPS afford this?

Do you really want that to happen?. If not, you need to make sure you cover your own asses now, before it's too late. Don't be cannon fodder for the District Administration who will walk away from all of that turmoil with their huge pensions and benefits intact, do something now before it's too late for you as board members, and for the children.

Learn to take charge and be responsible... or else suffer the consequences via your own hands. It's up to you. Can you afford it?
